Socio-demographic determinants of happiness in Turkey

This study examines the relationship between perception of happiness and socio-demographic characteristics in Turkey using Life Satisfaction Survey conducted by Turkish Statistical Institute 2017. For this purpose, nonlinear canonical correlation analysis was performed on a dataset 4261 employees. Socio-demographic evaluated variable set consisting both individual's direct conceptual/personal sources happiness. Consistent with literature, it seen that variables impacted levels Turkey. The main findings show marital status has highest effect perceived happiness, married people are happier than unmarried ones. Age negative, educational background positive effect. employment status, is notable per diem employees unhappy. Besides, detailed perspective to researchers working towards increasing evaluating identified sub-groups individuals living provided.
